Fuel Analysis Testing

Hugh's Mechanical Equipment is a company that takes personal pride ensuring that every customer receives the highest level of superior customer service.

Providing on site Fuel Sampling, Testing and Analysis for a full range of refined fuels. We provide professional on site summer and winter fuel analysis testing. Our services will ensure the proper operation of your equipment when in critical need. Fuel analysis is performed by professionally trained chemists. Samples are inspected and tested by a third party laboratory using the latest ASTM standards and other recognized fuel sampling standards.

Refined fuels include #2 heating oil, diesel fuel, #4 oil and #6 heavy oils. Most common samples taken are tested for and include: fuel stability, BTU's per gallon, Cetane index, Viscosity, flashpoint, sulfur, bottom solids, water, cloud point, pour point and microbial count CFU/ML. Sampling and analyzing on a regular basis allows customers to track stability of their stored fuels and also alert them when contaminates are at unacceptable levels. Many states and accrediting organizations require or strongly recommend testing fuels at least annually.

Fuel Additives

From the time of refining until they are used, fuels will degrade, acquire sediment and may grow microbial. After a complete fuel analysis, we use custom blended fuel additives, blended using computer controlled equipment which precisely measures and monitors batch quality, allowing formulation of custom Fuel Additives tailored to your needs.

How much diesel fuel is needed for analysis?

The amount of diesel fuel needed for analysis depends on the testing being done. Most tests require as little as 16 ounces of fuel sampled at 3 different points, for a complete fuel spectrum.

What is ASTM?

American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is an international standards organization that develops and publishes voluntary consensus technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services.
